This Timor-Leste Ermera washed drip bag is roasted to a medium level. Compared with the typically lighter, cleaner style of washed coffees, it has a fuller, more substantial body and a noticeable coffee presence — without relying on dark-roast bitterness to create intensity.
As the cup develops, a grounded nutty character comes through, with natural sweetness balancing a gentle bitterness. Rather than the sweeter character of hazelnut or almond, the nuttiness is deeper and more restrained, at times reminiscent of walnut with its subtle bittersweet edge.
Acidity is relatively gentle and stays mainly in the background to provide balance. If you enjoy black coffee with good body and a solid coffee presence, but prefer to avoid the charred bitterness or smoky notes of darker roasts, this is a suitable choice.
